A Message from Superintendent Nix

Dear CCPS Community,
Our students and teachers have done it again.
Public education looks a lot different today than it used to. We aren't just a place for academics anymore; on any given day, our schools are providing meals, mental health support, medical care, and a safe place for kids to just be kids. Our educators and staff are constantly juggling new state requirements, changing technology, and the diverse needs of our students. Yet through every expanding responsibility, our core mission remains unchanged: uncompromising learning and student growth.
I am thrilled to share that our latest Georgia Milestones state testing results show that Catoosa County students are outperforming both our RESA region and the entire State of Georgia in nearly every tested subject area at the elementary, middle, and high school levels!
Here is how our schools performed across the entire district:
Elementary School Highlights
3rd Grade Math: Increase in math from FY25 to FY26 by +4.45%.
4th Grade Math: Outperformed RESA by +3.9% and the State by +4.2%.
5th Grade Math: Beat both RESA and State averages.
5th Grade Science: Outpaced RESA by +5.6% and the State by +2.3%.
Middle School Highlights
6th Grade Math: Exceeded RESA by +9.1% and the state averages by +11.8%!
7th Grade Math: Outperformed RESA by +6.3% and the State by +8.1%.
8th Grade Math: Outpaced RESA by +9.7% and beat the State by an extraordinary +12.9%!
8th Grade Science / Physical Science: Beat RESA by +6.1% and the State by +3.9%.
8th Grade Social Studies: Outperformed RESA by +6.4% and the State by +3.8%.
High School Highlights
Algebra I: Outpaced RESA by +5.3% and the State by +7.6%.
Biology: Beat RESA by an incredible +11.1% and the State by +8.8%!
A Moment of Well-Deserved Pride
These numbers aren't just statistics; they represent early mornings, late nights, rigorous classroom instruction, and bright young minds across every single school in our district.
To our students: Your hard work and grit prove that when expectations are set high, you exceed them.
To our teachers and staff: Your expertise, passion, and tireless dedication behind the scenes make victories like this possible, and I can not thank you enough.
And to our families: Thank you for your constant partnership, support, and trust.
This can only happen when we all work together to ensure success for every child, every day, without exception. We are raising the bar together, and our entire community has reason to celebrate!

Mr. Davis LFO

Mr. Bobby Davis Named Principal of LFO High School

Superintendent Nix and the Catoosa County School Board officially named alumnus Bobby Davis as the next principal of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, expressing immense excitement for his leadership and deep community roots.

Accepting the role, Mr. Davis shared:

"I am so excited about transitioning into the role of the next principal of LFO. I am a graduate of LFO and hold this school, its students, and the community very dear to my heart. LFO is an awesome place, and we have the best students and staff around."

Ready to lead his alma mater into its next chapter, Mr. Davis looks forward to building on LFO's strong legacy of student success and Warrior pride.
HHS Students Recognized by the Board

HHS Students Recognized by the Board

The Catoosa County Public Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Nix proudly recognized Heritage High School students Daniel Gonzales, Emily Ray, McKenzie Slaughter, and Cohen Olivarri for earning 1st place in the Media Education Foundation of Georgia/SkillsUSA Video Challenge.

The board commended the talented team for their outstanding creative and technical achievement, highlighting how exceptional CTAE programs and student dedication bring pride to the entire district.

2026 Teachers of the Year Recognized

Catoosa County Public Schools is celebrating its school-level Teachers of the Year for their extraordinary dedication and impact on student success. The district will formally recognize these standout educators for their achievement during a special honors luncheon in September.

Leading this year’s honorees is reigning District Teacher of the Year Dr. Rebekah List of West Side Elementary School. Honored for her innovative instruction, peer mentorship, and commitment to family literacy, Dr. List exemplifies educational leadership across the district.

CCPS is excited about this year's outstanding candidates as they compete for District Teacher of the Year.

ParentSquare Information

Catoosa County Public Schools (CCPS) is excited to announce a major upgrade to district-wide communications. Starting July 1, 2026, the district transitioned to ParentSquare, a unified platform designed to streamline communication between schools and families, students, and staff.

Families will receive messages through email, app, voice, or text, helping everyone stay informed and involved!

An account is automatically created for each parent or guardian using the contact information in our student information system. We encourage you to activate your account to download the free mobile app, set your language preferences, and choose how and when you’d like to receive messages.

What you can do with ParentSquare:
1) Receive updates from your school via email, app, or text notification
2) Choose to get posts as they’re shared or bundled in a daily digest
3) View posts, photos, calendars, and important announcements
4) Communicate in your preferred language with automatic translation
5) Send direct messages to teachers and staff
6) Sign up for conferences and school events
7) Fill out forms and sign up to volunteer
—all in one place

Traversa MyRide K-12 Parent App

CCPS is excited to begin the 2026-2027 school year. CCPS offers a bus-tracking app called Traversa MyRide K-12. Please scan the QR code shown in this article with your smartphone's camera to download and sign up for our new CCPS Bus app.

Traversa offers a more advanced and user-friendly platform designed to improve the safety and efficiency of our student transportation. Key benefits include:

Improved Efficiency: Streamlined processes and real-time updates.

  • Enhanced Safety: Advanced features to ensure student safety.
  • Better Communication: Timely notifications and updates through the MyRide K-12 Parent App, allowing you to track your child’s bus with:
  • Estimated arrival times
  • Potential delays or route changes
  • Notifications for specific events (e.g., bus approaching)
  • Data Privacy: Rest assured that student data is protected, and the app adheres to all privacy regulations.

After scanning the QR code, you will be directed to download the app and create an account using your student ID.


We encourage all CCPS Bus rider families to participate in the new bus app program. We are particularly interested in your comments regarding the accuracy of bus pick-up and drop-off times displayed in the app. You will be able to track your student 30 minutes prior to and post pick-up time.

Important New School Year Information from the CCPS Child Nutrition Department

Free & Reduced Meal Application Information for the 2026 School Year

As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, the free and reduced-price meal application process restarts.

Should My Family Apply?

If you believe your family qualifies and you have at least one child enrolled at a school not designated as CEP (Community Eligibility Provision), you should complete an application.

Note: If you received a letter or email stating that your student qualifies for free meals during the 2025-2026 school year through SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, or other qualifying programs, you do not need to apply.

You have two options to submit your application:

Request a paper application from your student’s school.

Important Reminders:

Applications must be completed every school year in order to receive meal benefits. Families are responsible for paying for student meals until they receive an official approval notification.
